Choice of subdomain wildcard in reverse proxy docker config

    Details

      Description

      In my environment I have a base Artifactory URL of

      _https://art.repo.example.com/artifactory_

      And my cert has a SAN that includes .repo.example.com (specifically for Docker). In the reverse proxy config I have set Docker to use subdomain, but the expression is hard coded to .art.repo.example.com, which is then displayed in the Set me up inline help and users send support requests when it doesn't work.

      I propose a comobox choice for the subdomain expression: *.<base url> or *.<base url without the hostname>.

      For Apache HTTPD the following rewrite rule works in my case

      _RewriteCond "%

      {HTTP_HOST}

      " "^((?!art).*)\.repo.example.com$"_

      I concede this is not 100% correct expression as it would leave artfoo.repo.example.com unmodified, but we simply have convention that all docker repos start with "docker" .
