LDAP settings in a certain combination cause Artifactory restart to fail. In order to reproduce the issue, please setup LDAP with Artifactory and enable "Search sub-tree" and also provide "Search Base" in the LDAP settings. Leave the "Search Filter" field empty.
Go ahead and save the LDAP settings which will be successful.

Now Restart Artifactory and you will see that the startup fails with an error and is complaining about the "Search base" option and "Search Filter" option. In order to recover, you need to modify the config descriptor and remove these options from the LDAP settings and bootstrap Artifactory with the modified config descriptor.

Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element ‘searchBase’. One of ‘{“http://artifactory.jfrog.org/xsd/2.1.0
      “:searchFilter}’ is expected.
      at com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.util.ErrorHandlerWrapper.createSAXParseException(ErrorHandlerWrapper.java:203) ~[na:1.8.0_51]

The issue is reproducible in version 5.8.3, but this issue could be happening in earlier versions as well. Does not reproduce on 5.2.0

The screenshot attached has the combination of LDAP settings needed to reproduce the issue.
