'!/' site jar exploder syntax works intermediately. Needs documentation.

We've been using the '!/' site exploder syntax to get links for our surefire reports from the site jars published to Artifactory. These intermediately stop working (returned 404) for us and then start working again.

My team logged a support ticket and there didn't seem to be any documentation on using this !/ syntax for accessing these .html files with the artifactory url. I would like to request some documentation be made on how exactly this process works and why it would return a 404 if I see the artifacts available with Artifactory.
