Internal users infrequently lose their assigned groups

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Resolved
    • Priority: Critical
    • Resolution: Fixed
    • Affects Version/s:, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.4.0
    • Fix Version/s: 4.4.2
    • Component/s: LDAP, NuGet, Security
    • Environment:

      OS: Windows Server 2012 Standard
      Database Type: mssql
      Storage Type: filesystem

When under load an internal Artifactory user may lose all assigned groups.

For a long time now Artifactory has been failing to serve simple NuGet requests such as List and Get-Package. Looking at the Request.log we can see a number of 401 Unauthorized errors coming through, whereas on the build server we see NuGet report a timeout or "Unable to find package.." depending on the the request made.

This will mostly happen during the overnight builds where there may be up to 100 simultaneous requests for packages. These requests can come from the same IP address. The same issue can occur during the day as well, where there is much less load on Artifactory. This is what was observed today, when viewing the users list the user readonly was not in any of the groups that it should have been. Re-adding the missing groups resolved the issue.

Our issue seems very similar to: https://www.jfrog.com/jira/browse/RTFACT-4609

There was an LDAP integration set up but I have removed that in the meantime to see if that reduces the number of errors we experience.
