Dear Artifactory/Jfrog Team,
We Love Artifactory and it is one of the best tool around to store all the critical artifacts. It is really worth of Money. Thanks for creating such a wonderful product.
Anyway, This request is to address a critical issue my organization is facing and this is in regards to Docker images. To give you the back ground, We use Artifactory for storing all our maven, debain, rpm based artifacts and from few months back we are hosting our Docker images in Artifactory. However Since the introduction of Docker in Artifactory, We are facing a critical issue of storage. The problem with Docker is each images is very high in storage, like in GB's usually and storing them in Artifactory, it really filling up the Disk space fast. To give an example, in last 4 months, only docker has captured 1TB data volume of Artifactory server. Another issue is there is no default philosophy of limiting the number of images in Artifactory, like there is one in the case of Maven snapshots retentions.
For now, We are handling manually which is very tedious. Though there are solution to use groovy script but they are also not satifactory.
Hence this ask is to have a feature in Artifactory which handles or control the minimum number of images stores in Artifactory. let's say doesn't allow any one to have more than 5 images for a Tag etc.
Now Since Docker is the next buzz in the market and more n more people are gonna adopt it, having this feature will really help the customers and will benefit Artifactory more.
Looking forward to have this feature soon.
