 Description

In my installation of Artifactory, I have directories whose names are version numbers. Artifactory, of course, sorts those directories in this way:

1.1
1.10
1.11
1.2
1.3

It would be great to be able to get these to sort as version numbers. In my case, a simple global checkbox like "Sort numbers as numbers" would be sufficient, as I don't have any situations where numbers have to be sorted in the way shown above.

Is there any progress on this? It's really pretty annoying.

Note that the title of this ticket isn't really right. The original reporter isn't asking for custom sorting, and I'm not looking for custom sorting either. We both simply want the sorting to be in the one order that makes sense, which is semver order for directories containing version numbers.

There's already code in Ivy that can do this kind of sorting. It seems like we could copy that code over, or include the Ivy jar, etc. It is not the end of the world, but it does make it harder to see what versions (or revisions) are available inside of Artifactory.

Perhaps this could be part of the Ivy Plugin to Artifactory; but it would be nice if this were just built in. It seems to be a common enough feature.

Hi,
We have the exact problem, and our internal customers are complaining about it.

It would be great if you can add a button that toggles between the default sort, and numeric sort.

I think this issue should be transformed into a feature, because it's obvious that sorting ascending/descending by timestamps or numerical version in a tool which work with timeline things is a natural fact.
Please invest time and add this thing to your directories display tree.

This is also an issue for us at Lookout. I particularly feel the pain when doing bulk deletes of artifacts. In this case I'm presented with a list of mostly chronologically sorted artifacts with a few out of order one interspersed, and its easy to accidentally delete things you shouldn't. So if you add this semver sort order feature in the tree mode, please make sure that it also applies to the "Delete Versions" dialog.

We are also running into this issue, having this feature would be very useful especially when you have hundreds of artifacts in your tree.
Could we have this looked at again or at least planned for a future release of artifactory ?

Thanks,
-Denis

Hello,

Can you please update the ticket or release notes as to how we would be able to sort the directories? I can't seem to find a way to do it and web searches just direct me back here.

Thanks

Hello,

Any updates on how to sort using version numbers? JIRA says this issue is resolved, but does not say how to use this feature. Have not found anything in the release notes.

Thanks,

Is this feature present?
